Our Story: Building on a Legacy of Quality
Encore Construction has a rich history rooted in exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering client service on Cape Cod.
The company’s journey began with founder Dale Nikula, who spent many years working alongside his father before establishing the Dale R. Nikula Co. Inc. in 1995. Dale quickly earned a reputation not only as an outstanding carpenter but also as a talented leader adept at managing people and projects.
As word spread about the high level of quality and customer service offered, the company grew steadily. In 2003, Dale renamed the firm Encore Construction—a name that reflected the fact that many satisfied clients chose to partner with the company for multiple projects over the years.
In 2021, Dale sold his ownership to his General Manager, Kathy DeMeyer. Kathy had dedicated 19 years to the company, bringing invaluable expertise through her roles as office manager, production manager, and designer before assuming leadership. Under her guidance, Encore continued its tradition of excellence.
A New Chapter
Effective January 1, 2026, Kathy DeMeyer is passing the torch to Luke Furey, a respected professional and a current Project Manager for Encore ready to lead the company into its next era. This transition honors the company’s foundational values while infusing new energy and vision.
Encore continues to provide comprehensive Design/Remodel and custom home services to its clients on Cape Cod. The firm has received numerous awards for both its client service and the quality of its project design and execution. Encore’s work has been proudly featured in publications such as Home Remodeling, Cape Cod Life, Boston Design Guide, and several remodeling industry magazines.

LUKE FUREY
President + CEO
Luke Furey is a well-respected construction and real estate professional with over 25 years of experience delivering quality residential projects throughout Massachusetts. As President and CEO of Encore, Luke provides leadership and hands-on oversight for every phase of
the construction process, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. He is a Massachusetts Licensed Construction Supervisor with unrestricted licensure, a Registered Home Improvement Contractor, an ICC
Certified Residential and Commercial Building Inspector, and a Licensed Real Estate Broker—credentials that reflect his comprehensive understanding of building codes, safety standards, and project management best practices.
Known for his professionalism, clear communication, and attention to detail, Luke and his team effectively manage multiple projects while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with homeowners, subcontractors, architects, and designers. He is a dedicated professional whose primary goal is to exceed client expectations. He approaches each project with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to safety and quality. Having relocated to Cape Cod from the Berkshires in 1998, Luke lives in South Dennis with his wife Amy and their three sons and two dogs. Outside of work, Luke enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his family, boating and camping.

As the former owner of Encore Construction, Kathy continues to offer her expertise to help Encore transition to new ownership. With over 30 years of construction experience, Kathy loves interacting with clients to help create their everlasting memories. When not working, Kathy enjoys reading, walking and spending time with family in Florida.

Karl Schleicher
Karl brings two decades of hands-on experience and craftsmanship to every project he touches. When he isn’t on-site, you can usually find him on the water—whether he’s fishing, boating, or enjoying a round of golf. Back on land, Karl is a passionate cook, who loves experimenting with new flavors for friends and family.
TONI-LEE FINOS
As a cornerstone of the Encore team for a decade, Toni is the friendly voice you’ll most likely hear when you call our office. She is essential to keeping our daily operations running smoothly and ensuring our clients feel heard. To recharge, Toni practices meditation and embraces the outdoors on camping trips with her grandkids. Above all, she finds her greatest joy in quality time spent with her family and friends.

Greg brings a unique energy to the team, fueled by his love for film and live music. A true Cape Cod local at heart, he is often seen frolicking in the ocean with his loyal dog, Mack. He is also our resident culinary explorer, constantly on a quest to prepare the absolute perfect taco.

With a career spanning 40 years as a builder, Jimmy’s expertise is the backbone of our construction excellence. He has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and finds his best days are spent hunting with his sons or taking a refreshing swim in the ocean.

Liliana Scenna
A graduate of Mt. Ida College, Liliana brings over 20 years of experience in all facets of high end residential interior design. After a successful sales and management career in the contract and luxury residential furnishings industries, began to specialize in kitchen and bath design. Liliana works closely with her clients to ensure the new spaces are a true reflection of their unique lifestyle. Having completed hundreds of projects, from city high rises to antique coastal homes, her design skills, attention to detail, and project coordination result in exceptional customer experiences.
DAVID SCHAEFFER
With 20 years of history at Encore, Dave’s experience and commitment are part of the company’s foundation. An avid reader and hiker, Dave loves exploring the natural beauty of the area. Above all, he treasures the time he gets to spend making memories with his grandchildren.

MATT LAMAN
Born and raised on the Cape, the son of a carpenter, with experience in construction, landscaping, and education in business management, we are excited for Matt to join the Encore team here in 2024. With a strong work ethic, we look forward to Matt becoming a valued member of the team. When not working, Matt enjoys all things about the beach (even the sharks!) and spending time with his wife Amy and his dog Annie.

Hello my name is Scott Smith. And my interests are skiing, fishing, and hunting, and of course walking. In the summer I love gardening. Anything to do with vegetables I love. I have been in the construction business my whole life. I like making something that is plain into something that is elegant and beautiful. I specialize in kitchen and bathrooms. I hope I do construction till I retire.

Amber is a native of Cape Cod with over 20 years of experience in Bookkeeping, 10 of which have been within the Construction industry. She holds degrees in both Psychology and Accounting. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, being creative and spending time with family and friends.

Eric is a Cape Cod native with nearly 20 years of experience in residential carpentry. He grew up in a family of restaurant owners, building a strong work ethic early on before pursuing a career in the building trades. He enjoys traveling, staying active, and making the most of Cape Cod summers.
